The Safe Arrival Of Pippa Rose

At 2am on sunday 4/12/2011 i woke up with uncomfy cramps and wondered what might be going on.Went back to sleep and carried on the day as normal, still having cramps about 20 mins apart all day. They were getting sore by evening, so was sure something was happening. Ed got on the phone and called work to sort out some cover for the moo cows. I decided to go to bed and see what sleep i could get. So glad we did as i woke up on monday 5/12/2011 still in one peice!! Contractions were starting to get painful and were about 10 mins apart, so decided to keep Josiah home from school and ring eds mummy to come and stay, as she had a 4 hour journey before her. Took the boys to Mc Donalds for breakfast and went and got the groceries. Contractions stayed the same all day, and i was half expecting them to stop completely and upset everyone.
I decided to let my midwife know what was happening because i was getting very tired and discouraged. She checked me at 3pm, i was 50% effaced and 1cm dilated with a very firm cervix. She decided to to a good stretch and sweep to get things going and left me to it. I began to get very painful contractions straight away after she did s&s. I had dinner with the family and the contractions were still coming and still sore. They stayed super irregular all night, getting more and more sore. Ed and i decided to go for a walk to get her moving along. It didnt seem to work, so i sat down with a glass of wine and then all of a sudden i was very sore. Started timing contractions and they were still 8 mins apart. I was a wreck trying to decided what to do. About 1230 i asked ed to call the midwife to see if we could go to the birth centre because i wasnt coping well with the pain. She came and checked me at 1am, i was only 3cms dilated, but fully effaced and just not coping. I burst into tears and was very very discouraged at the process. My amazing midwife realized i wasnt going to be ok at home so made some calls to the birth centre for me and off we went. Got to birth centre just after 2am and started on gas to keep me sane. It helped hugely and i felt a huge sense of being in control of my pain. I had about 4 contractions in 15 mins, so things were going well. Then a big one hit and i asked for the water.I hoped in the pool around 3 i think, things progressed slow and steady, and i was feeling amazing with the gas, managing to chat and breath well in between the pain. After a couple of contractions one on top of each other, and me starting to be panicked, the midwife insisted on an internal. I was absolutely devastated when she said i was only 7cms, because i thought it was much further on.She then asked my if i would like to have my waters broken, i agreed that would be a good idea. So at 700am Sunday 6/12/2011, she decided to go ahead and break my waters (WOW was there LOTS of water!!!), within a matter of seconds i was absolutely screaming in pain, sucking gas for my dear life and vomiting. Then, wham, All of a sudden i was pushing, slightly panicked and not understanding what was happening. I felt a sense of intense fullness and started saying i couldnt do it, to which the midwife replied "you already are i can see her head'. I didnt get a chance to process this or the crowning stage, as 2 pushes later her head was out, and about 20 seconds and 1 more push later she was born at 710am!!

Enjoying the small things

There is a blog i have been reading that is slowly but surely touching and changing my heart. I have been moved through her writing and have made some huge realizations about my priorities. This wonderful woman has dealt with all life had thrown her and come out the other side with a brand new passion for life and an apreciation of how special it is when you hae babies.

Anyways, from this reading has come a re-knewed passion for taking photos of my kids and spending a few momments of each day to just hold them, love them, and remember them at the beautiful ages and stages that theyre at.

I am off shopping tomorrow for canvas and paint, i have a new project, my new favoite saying " Please excuse our mess, we are busy making memories"

On that note i will say goodnight, i have a warm bed waiting for me.

0 bellow bike riding!!

Here in sleepy New Zealand, its not only the middle of winter, its the school holidays!! In our home this mean lots and lots of fights, arguments, noise, mess and a LOT of fun!!!

The past few mornings we have woken to brilliant sunshine and FREEZING cold temperatures, perfect for bike riding it would seem! At 7:30am, when the temp is in the minuses, my kids are begging to go outside!! So armed with slippers and dressing gowns, off they go!! They will spend a good hour out there having a blast! It warms my heart seeing them play together so happily!! (well, that and my hot cup of tea by the fire!!)

The calving season has begun very slowly with just 2 claves being born!! The 1st was a teeny premature little girl, who the kids and i have taken under our wings! She is being bottle fed, cuddled, kissed and very much loved! Its such an amazing thing to see you kiddies enjoying new life and stomping round in sawdust and mud, It is just such a blessing to have a farm to raise boys on!

On the topic of boys, there will be another one joining our wee family in december!! We are all unbelievebly thrilled to be able to have another life to welcome to our crazy world!!

Well, the sun is shining and the kids are off dancing to LOUD music, so i better go and supervise!! I hope you all have a chance to get out and enjoy some fresh air today, be it brilliant sunshine or pouring rain!

Just a little grump!

Today was an absolutely beautiful day with glorious warm sunshine! Noah had a HUGE morning nap and then after some baking time, we headed of to find a new park to play in! We found one and it was AMAZING!! Both boys loved it, and there was lots of fun had by all!

Noah, the rough tough little mite, had a little too much fun and ended up biting though his bottom lip! It bled EVERYWHERE!! However, It stopped quickly and he recovered fast! Within 5 minutes he was up and running for the playground again!

Before heading home we decided to go on a wee adventure! So we blindly followed a boardwalk that took us off into the bush! What a beautiful wee walk we had! Noah and Josiah LOVED all the birds and tall trees and ed and i enjoyed that gorgeous smell that you can find nowhere other than the NZ bush!

While we were at the park having "just one more play mummy" i was very VERY saddened to see two mummies sitting of the park bench in the middle of the playground with their children clinging to their legs, an alcoholic drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other!!! The poor kiddies were getting smoke blown into their faces and then when mummy had enough they were told to "go and play you little faggots". Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad. I know it i harsh, but some people just do NOT deserve to be mummies!!!!

Magic Mummy Days!!!

What a fab mummy day i have had!!
Josiah and i went on a mummy and me date this morning!! We went to the movies to see HOP and then got mc donalds for lunch! It was so neat not only to see his excitment when i told him what was happening, but to see the huge amount of enjoyment he got out of some us time! I am planning on doing it a LOT more often! Next on the list of activities: 10 pin bowling!! He cant wait and truthfuly, neither can i!

After the fun, we came home and enjoyed some family time playing bowling on the wii, baking and hanging out!!

My wonderful man made me the very best washing drying device in the WORLD! It is a washing line on a pully and hangs above our fire!! Its amazing!! It is being tested by the raging fire tonight - Cant wait to see how it goes!!

Please someone tell me i am not the only one who is so completly consumed by her kiddies that she needs to be near them ALL the time?? I adore my boys soooooo much!! I cant WAIT to see them in the morning and a LOT lately if there is something on telly about kiddies that is sad, i pull them into bed with me all night! Weird? Maybe. In love with my babies? YES!!!

Back in the game!

It has been forever and a day since i got on here and spilled my guts to the wonderful online world!
I dont even know where to begin to catch up from the past few months!

Mr6 is getting so very grown up, hes doing incredibly well at school and becoming such a wonderful young man! Hes so soft and gentle with his brother, so creative and imaginative and becoming increasingly helpful!

The younger Mr is now mr 1!! Hes soooo big!! He is sarting to take his first few wobbly attempts at walking, has 16 teeth and can even say a few words!

We have been very boring the last few months, just lots of school, family time and just being us.

There is one big change in our family!! I am PREGNANT!!!!! 6 weeks and 5 days today!! It was a very easy conception - 1st cycle off the pill!! Estimated due date is 13 december!! I have just seen the midwife and am booked for a scan at 8 weeks!! We are thrilled!!

The past few weeks have been incredibly tough. Both the kids came down with what we thought were colds, turns out it was much much more than that! Mr6 ended up with a

Its been WAY too long................

Good morning boys and girls!!

It has been a good few weeks since i last posted on here!! I will blame it on the fact i have been busy with family and the kiddies over the holiday! (In actual fact its because i am lazy!!)

I hope you all had an amazing christmas! We sure did! Both J and N were super spoilt and it was a great time catching up with all of the family!! Christmas day was a beautifuly quiet day with Mr mums parents, opening presents, eating, sleeping and playing!

Boxing day was crazy fun with ALL of my family! And if you know my family, you know that is not a small affair!! =P

Once the dust settled and J was back from nanas house we have had a gorgeously quiet holidays, a lot of staying at home, playing and swimming! Even new years was a quiet night with the kids and 2 of my brothers comming to visit! Absolute bliss!!

On  monday we went to the bach for my mums birthday and to take the new boat out, YAY WE GOT ONE, only the boat decided not to start!! Mr mum was devestated, but it meant that the kids and i got a nice long swim in the estuary, which was as warm as bath water!

J got an award at school for accademic effort, so we are SUPER proud of him for that and even took him up the sky tower!! What a blast that was!!

N, who is now 9 months!!, had been a shocking sleeper the last few week, going to bed fine but waking an hour later and wanting to play until midnight! So, after trying everything, and i mean everything, else, we decided that he was having too much daytime sleep! So yesterday we gave him an earlier afternoon nap and made him stay up until bedtime. What do you know??, sucsess!! He slept 7pm to 7am!! YAY!!! Mr mum and i even got to watch a movie in peace!! So today we will be holding him out so that he only has one big nap for the day! It might be hard work, but i have a feeling it will be worth it!!

The countdown to our summer holiday, camping at the beach, is on!! Only 9 more sleeps!! We are very much looking forward to sun, sand, salt, tenting, cooking on the gas cooker, swimming in the ocean ect!!

Well, the kids are about to kill each other so i had better love and leave you!
